Purpose of the event:

This event marks the conclusion of more than two years of coordinated work among institutions in Portugal, Spain, France, and Greece. Funded by the European Union, SchoolFan (https://www.schoolfan.eu/) has had the fundamental mission of empowering middle and high school students and teachers to combat misinformation about climate change through an innovative citizen science approach.

Throughout this project, which will officially conclude at the end of June, the multidisciplinary team have worked intensively on, among other tasks, mapping and analyzing national school curricula to integrate media literacy and climate education into classrooms, developing educational and digital resources, providing specialized training for teachers, and implementing these initiatives in classrooms.

The event is free and open to all interested parties such as educators, fact checkers, media agencies, citizen science designers, policy makers. We will first present the main project results and then in a round table discussion, discuss current challenges related to fake news and the role of citizen science as a tool against disinformation in the educational context, as well as the future and scalability (replicability) of the proposed procedures and materials.
